Middle Colorado Watershed Council

MCWC is dedicated to enhancing and protecting the water for all uses and for the environment in the watershed from Glenwood Canyon to De Beque. As a cross-jurisdictional workspace, we find solutions to water-related issues across the region with agricultural, municipal, recreational, and ecosystem users. MCWC works in a watershed that is economically driven by water, in a watershed where nature thrives from its health. MCWC is helping to find a balance between human needs and ecosystem needs given a limited amount of water.

According to Colorado Water Conservation Board’s Colorado Flood Threat Bulletin there are no rivers in flood stage as of May 15, 2024 on the Western Slope. The Water Supply Outlook Report from the National Resources Conservation Service states dust on snow led to more rapid snow melt in the northern portions. In the Colorado Headwaters River Basin, at the end of April, reservoir storage was 124% of median compared to 101% last year.
